ex Willd. Allied to T. marum, but more condensed and stiff, forming spiny, but not sharply so, cushions to about 10cm high by 20-30cm across. Leaves very narrowly triangular usually 3-6mm long. Flowers purple to red-purple, 8mm long, from the upper axils, summer. Majorca, on open stony slopes. Surprisingly hardy, surviving all but severe winters. Attractive to cats but not to quite such an extent as T. marum.
