Flowering stems wiry and zigzag, bearing one to three long-stalked floral spathes 2.5cm by 6-7mm Flowers bright yellow, sometimes with a red spot at the base of each tepal, 2.5cm across with tubes as long, spring in the wild. Chile, in the central provinces between the coast and Andean foothills in grassland, scrub, open woodland and rocky slopes from sea level to 1000m. Needs more or less frost free conditions to thrive.
