Leaves 0.5-lcm across, cordate, with prominent veins on the underside. Scapes up to 9cm tall. Flowers solitary, reddish-violet, striped blue inside, tubular, 8-15mm long, fringed to one quarter. Alps, Carpathians, Rhodope Mountains and Apennines, in moist situations on acid soils at 1200-3100m. [Pl.476]
