Loosely mat-forming, 5-8cm tall by 15-3 0cm across. Leaves ovate to elliptic, 8-20mm long, with a network of impressed veins, finely glandular grey pubescent. Flowers "to 1.5cm long, pink to coral, sometimes with a red-brown upper lip, in small racemes, summer. Syria and Turkey, on rocky slopes and screes and in deciduous and conifer forests. Allied to S. salviifolia and S. pontica.
