Botanical Description

Closely allied to S.

occidentalis. Basal leaves oval, leathery, crenate and red-hairy beneath, l-3cm long. Flowering stems 5-15cm tall bearing corymbose clusters of numerous white, starry flowers, petals 4-5mm long. Subarctic North America and Pacific coast mountains. Has been in cultivation but is doubtfully so at present. Requires a cool, moist, shady position.
