Forms loose, spreading, evergreen cushions. Leaves hairy, 2.5-3.5cm long kidney-shaped, crenate and red beneath, with very long hairy petioles. Flowering stems 20-30cm tall, bearing panicles of many flowers with petals 4-5mm long spotted red. Pyrenees and eastern Spain, also in Ireland. Readily becomes naturalised. It resembles an oval, hairy leaved London Pride and likes damp and shady positions. Fairly easily grown and a useful plant for a shady corner.
