Botanical Description

(7). Forms cushions of lime-encrusted rosettes. Leaves very variable in shape, spathulate-oblong to obovate-linear, up to 8.5mm long, with three to seven lime secreting pores towards the tips. Flowering stems 2.5-3.5cm tall bearing one to five white flowers, petals 4-7mm long. Nepal, south-western China, Tibet and Bhutan. Now well established in cultivation where it has not proved too difficult in a neutral, gritty soil with plenty of moisture. One of the later flowering species in this section. [Pl.437].
