Botanical Description

Stems usually erect, 10-20cm tall, sometimes to twice this. Basal leaves spathulate to obovate, 2-8cm long. Flowers white, 2-3mm wide, in leafy racemes or panicles, summer to autumn. Europe and western Asia, in moist to wet places usually near the sea or in alkaline habitats. For S.v. var. floribundus, see S. parviflorus.
