Leaves fairly crowded, elliptic-oblong, shallowly rounded-toothed, 8-20mm long, usually deep green and semi-glossy. Flowers to 2.5cm long, crimson, tubular to elongated ovoid, somewhat constricted at the mouth, pendent, often clustered, summer. Native to temperate rain forest but also found just above the tree line up to subalpine levels where it clothes boulders.
