A dwarf petiolarid with stemless flowers. Leaves spreading, spathulate with a narrow petiole, lacking farina, rounded at the apex, denticulate, not changing shape with the season as much as its relatives, bullate, 4-6cm long by 3-4cm wide, midribs and vein darker. Flowers 2.5cm across, solitary on short stalks, pale lilac-pink with a white-ringed, yellow eye, the petal lobes ending in a distinct acute point. Sepals sometimes lightly farinose. NW Himalaya at low altitudes, Kashmir to west Nepal, in shady places at 2100-3600m. The least hardy of the evergreen petiolarids and not often seen in cultivation. Hardier high altitude forms have been introduced.
