An evergreen petiolarid primula. Leaves oblong-spathulate at flowering, later developing a long winged petiole, smooth and lacking farina, 5-12cm long by 2-4 cm wide, toothed. Flowers pink with a white-ringed yellow eye, 2.5-3cm across, wide-mouthed and exannulate, the petal lobes markedly toothed, sepals green and long-acuminate, with long slender peduncles in umbels on stems almost absent at flowering, later elongating to 2-3 cm. Late winter flowering. Central Nepal to west Bhutan. Moist banks in forest, 2300-3700m. Not the hardiest of petiolarids and untidy in growth; very susceptible to virus and rarely if ever grown today.
