Flowers 2-8 on a scape equalling leaves, flat-faced and annulate, the petal-lobes rounded, lilac with a white eye, with a long and narrow tube 2 x the very narrow-sepalled calyx. NW Yunnan, especially Bai Ma Shan, Da Xue Shan, about 4000m. Proved shy to flower in cultivation. See also the closely related P. graminifolia which tends to flower more freely.
