Botanical Description

A stabilized true-breeding polyploid hybrid between P. verticillata and P. floribunda which arose in cultivation a centruy ago and behaves as a good species. Leaves bullate, irregularly dentate, obovate to spathulate, cuneate to a short winged petiole, 15-20cm long, toothed, occurring in two forms, one bright green and without farina, the other white-farinose on all surfaces. Flowers yellow, fragrant,  flowers 2cm across, in up to five whorls on stems to 30cm high. Hardy to -6C when kept relatively dry, suitable for the alpine house, kept moist and shaded in summer. Self-sows abundantly.
