A rarely seen member of section Cortusoides, distinguished by the narrowly funnel-shaped dull purple flowers nodding one-sidedly. Leaves hairy, 6-15cm long by 3-6cm wide, divided into seven to eleven bluntly toothed lobes. Flowers 1-2.5cm across, in umbels of three to ten on stems 15cm high when flowering, eventually extending to 30cm. May. West Sichuan in shady places under bushes and rocks, 2000-3200m. Not difficult if kept cool in summer and under cover in winter, but has almost disappeared from cultivation. Plants so-named are often P. polyneura.
