Botanical Description

A dwarf creeping plant lacking farina with mats of smooth green leaves with an orbicular leaf-blade with crenate tooth, about 1.5 cm abruptly ending in a short petiole. Flowers basal, borne on erect narrow pedicels about 1 cm bearing upward-facing bright pink flowers with a white central zone and an orange eye, about 15 mm in diameter, the petals deeply bifid. Endemic to wet rock-faces at Poshiana, Pir Pangal, Kashmir, 2100 m. A tiny relative of P. rosea and interfertile with it. Easily propagated by division and remains in cultivation, but now scarce, requiring cool humid conditions with good drainage, best in a shady trough.
