Botanical Description

Leaves narrowly oblanceolate, hooded and rounded at apex, carried almost erect until after flowering, 3-12cm long by l-4cm broad, fleshy, dark green, hairless and lacking farina. Flowers fragrant, 20-25mm across, rose to purple-pink, with white farina in the throat, the petals notched, carried in one sided umbels of one to five flowers, occasionally up to fifteen, spring to summer. Endemic to the Slovenian mountains near Idria, shaded humid north-facing limestone cliffs usually dripping with water, at 900-1000m. Uncommon in cultivation; should be kept shaded and moist in summer.
