Aleuritia: Algida. More robust and stocky than the familiar P. farinosa and with little or no farina. Leaves smooth, oblong-elliptic, l-6cm long with finely toothed margins and a tapering, almost stalkless base. Flowers pale mauve to violet, to 1.6cm across, in a four to many-flowered compact umbel, the petals deeply bilobed, from an often purple stained calyx to 10 mm. Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and southern U.S.S.R., on moist rock ledges and wet ground at 2000-7000m. [Pl.366].
