Botanical Description

from a stout woody rootstock, the usually white downy flowering stems to 15cm high. Leaves ternate, the leaflets 7-25mm long, ovate to obovate, crenate-serrate, white-downy beneath. Flowers yellow, 1.3-2cm in diameter, up to twelve in a cymose cluster, mid to late summer. Fennoscandia to Spitzbergen, Urals, Alps and Apennines, usually amongst limestone rocks up to 3000m.
