Leaves erect to spreading, 15-40cm long, oblong-lanceolate to linear in outline, pinnate and leathery-textured, scaly-fibrillose beneath. Pinnae many, triangular-ovate to oblong, more or less pinnately divided at the base, the lobes and teeth oblique and firm pointed. North-western North America east to Quebec and south to Utah, in rock crevices and amongst rocks in dry areas at 1520-3200m. Possibly of hybrid origin between P. mohrioides and P. imbricans.
