Botanical Description

Height 10-3 0cm, forming a dense cluster of leaves which are mainly basal, sticky and frequently unpleasant smelling, each divided into whorls of three to five cleft, 5mm long, leaflets. Flowers in head-like cymes at the tips of the stems, 1.5cm long with a white tube and blue lobes, the stamens not protruding. California, Sierra Nevada at high altitudes on dry, rocky slopes and alpine fellflelds. For cultivation see P. chartaceum.
