Height 18-25cm. Leaves mostly basal, composed of thirteen to twenty-three elliptic to almost orbicular, villous leaflets. Flowers about 1.2cm across, blue to purple or white, in terminal cymes. Circumpolar, south to the Altai mountains, in sandy and gravelly soils.
