One species of dwarf deciduous perennial from the southern Alps of Europe, formerly included in Phyteuma.
A most desirable plant for vertical rock crevices, dry walls, or the alpine house. It requires sharply drained alkaline soil and a reasonably sunny spot though some shade is tolerated. Propagation by seed when ripe, or early spring, or division in spring; basal cuttings are also usually successful in late spring or summer.
