Botanical Description

Bryanthus breweri). Stems decumbent to semi-prostrate, often in time creating tufty mats 10-3 0cm tall and wider. Leaves 6-15mm long, somewhat glandular with puberulent margins, deep lustrous green above. Flowers widely bell-shaped, to 1.2cm across, glowing rose-purple to pink, in terminal raceme-likeclusters, early summer. Cahfornia, in the Sierra Nevada at 1800-3600m, in rocky moist places, alpine fellfields and open subalpine forest. [Pl.355].
