(syn. P. stansburyi var. hirsuta). Loosely tufted subshrub 5-10cm high and considerably wider. Leaves elliptic-ovate to narrowly lanceolate, ciliate and densely pilose, 1.5-3cm in length. Flowers 1.5-1.8cm wide, the narrowly obovate petals purple to pink, in clusters of three to fifteen, spring. California, endemic to two small localities in Siskiyou County, on dry slopes at 100-1300m. Seldom long-lived in cultivation.
