Leaves 20-30cm or more long, the blade arching, ovate-triangular in outline, tapering to a slender point and composed of eight to ten or more pairs of pinnae, the lowest pair pointing obliquely backwards away from the others. Northern temperate zone, south to the Himalaya and Virginia, U.S.A., in damp woods and amongst shady rocks.
