Botanical Description

Gaultheira tasmanica). Mat to low cushion-forming 15-30cm in diameter. Leaves 4-8mm long, narrowly elliptic or oval, usually lustrous deep green. Flowers bell-shaped, white, 3-4mm long, solitary from the upper leaf axils, early summer. Fruits globose to oblate, 6-8mm wide, surrounded by fleshy sepals, red, white or yellowish. Tasmania, on mountain tops and subalpine moorland.
