Neat cushion-forming subshrublet, 3-5cm tall by 30cm or more across in the wild. Leaves densely packed in rosettes, linear, entire, 8-15mm long, revolute, leathery, somewhat lustrous and mucronate, with white woolly basal sheaths. Flowerheads solitary and sessile, about 1cm across with reddish-pink centres and cream or white rays about 4mm long. Argentina, in the southern central Patagonian steppes at 50-500m. An attractive and very distinctive species, considered worthy of a genus of its own by some botanists .
