Stems 25-80cm tall, slender, rather brittle. Leaves all cauline, up to ic m long, linear to narrowly lance-elliptic, irregularly and sharply toothed. Flowers blue-lavender to light purple-violet, 1.3-1.9cm long. Cliff crevices and dry, rocky banks and slopes at low elevations. Near the Snake River and its tributaries in Oregon, Washington and adjacent Idaho. Little known in cultivation.
