Botanical Description

forming dense to loose mats with creeping woody stems. Flowers stems 5-15cm tall. Leaves glabrous, broadly elliptic, mostly 1-2.5cm long, inconspicuously serrulate to subentire. Flowering shoots with well-developed leaves. Flowers deep lavender, 2.7-4cm long. Rocky places at moderate to high elevations in the mountains of Alberta, British Columbia, Montana and Idaho. Not much cultivated.
