Stems 20-50(90)cm tall. Leaves lanceolate to obovate, 5.5-9cm long.
entire to toothed. Flowers 1.2-1.6cm long, blue, pale yellow, to pink and white. Dry to moderately moist rocky slopes from sagebrush foothills to open subalpine meadows at 1700-2500m from Washington to Montana, Oregon, Idaho and Wyoming. A complex species, possibly of hybrid origin. Some individuals may have garden value, others are too lanky. Easy to grow.
