Akin to P. breweri but taller, with slender, straight rhizome scales. Leaves composed of up to sixteen pairs of falcate, grey-green pinnae. Spore-bearing pinnae lacking recurved margins. California to Idaho in exposed dry montane coniferous forest, at 1800-3300m. Worth trying outside in a dry wall or rock crevice.
