Botanical Description

Stems 30-50cm in height, glabrous. Leaves 3-8cm long, bipinnatisect, the segments crenate to sharply toothed. Flowers 1.5cm long, white or palest yellow with purple spots on the upper lip which has an upcurved beak, in loose spikes, late summer. British Columbia to Montana and California, in woodland and meadow margins at 2000-2800m. P.c. var. ctenophora has pink or purple flowers. Montana to Wyoming.
