Botanical Description

Rounded clump to cushion-forming perennial 3-5cm high. Leaves trifoliate, each leaflet 2 by 2mm, rounded obovate on wiry petioles 1-1.5cm long. Flowers solitary, yellow, 6-8mm long, summer. Chile, in the central cordillera north to Coquimbo at 3500-4000m. O. leptocaulis may well be a synonym but extends farther north into the high Atacama. It seems to be somewhat larger and looser and can sometimes behave as an annual.
