22.5 by 1mm. Flowers solitary, almost sessile, 6-8mm long, yellow, northern central cordilleras to Andean mid-Patagonia at the limits of vegetation on stony tops, stable screes and between rocks at 1800-4000m depending upon latitude. Formerly known as O. bryoides and O. compacta, the latter name now used for a distinct species, q.v. [Pl.324].
