More or less cushion-forming, 10-20cm tall in flower. Leaves shallowly cordate-ovate, 2-3cm long with rounded teeth, pale green, hairy beneath on 3-4cm hairy petioles. Stems hairy with flowers in a onesided loose raceme, 1-1.5cm long by 1.3-1.8cm across, pink to red with a line of dark red dots in the throat, summer. Argentina and Chile, the southern volcano and lake districts, in moist, peaty soil in rocky gullies and scrub margins.
