Cheilanthes siliquosa and Pellaea densa). Densely clump-forming, 15-30cm in height. Fronds evergreen, erect, ovate in outline, bi or tripinnate. Ultimate pinnules 5-15mm long, linear, with revolute margins. California to British Columbia, Montana and Quebec, among limestone and serpentine rocks up to 2800m. Seems to be fully hardy in sheltered rock crevices. An attractive species with its firm-textured carrot-like foliage. Botanists seem to have two minds about its classification and it is often included in Pellaea.
