Almost stemless, rosette-forming perennial to 15cm or more in height. Leaves oblonglanceolate, pinnatifid to sinuate, 10-30cm in length. Flowers yellow, 3-7cm in diameter, summer. Texas, Mississippi to Kentucky and Mexico, in open dry places. O. triloba 'Flava' has paler yellow flowers.
