Seven species of dwarf shrubs from the southern Andes. They have small, simple alternate leaves and solitary groundsel-like flowerheads.


Occasionally cultivated and worth trying in a raised bed, scree or alpine house but reluctant to flower. Sharply drained but moist soil and a moderately sunny site are essential. Propagation by seed in spring or cuttings in late summer.
