Densely to more or less loosely cushion-forming shrublet 10cm or more across. Leaves crowded, 3-5mm long, narrowly oblong, almost glabrous above, white-woolly beneath. Flowerheads cylindrical, 1-1.5cm long, the florets golden-yellow, summer. Southern Chile and Argentina, mainly in Fuegia, amongst rocks in sandy soil, also found as a component of Empetrum heath.
