Leaves usually two per bulb, to 37cm long by 3mm wide, flattened at base but round for most of their length, dark green, very erect. Stems round, smooth, to 18cm tall. Pedicel to 4.2cm long. Flowers usually solitary, horizontal, medium yellow, 3cm in diameter, tube 1.6cm long, tepals reflexed but incurving, just imbricate at base, corona cup-shaped, deeply six-lobed but entire, 6mm high by 10mm in diameter. Anthers three in tube, three in corona overtopping style, late spring. South-eastern Portugal and south-western Spain in wet turf.
