Botanical Description

Leaves two to four per bulb, 30cm long by 6mm wide, glaucous, erect. Stem compressed 20cm tall. Pedicel 2mm long. Flowers solitary, horizontal or ascending, 4cm in diameter, tube yellow with green stripes, 1cm long, tepals golden yellow, nearly patent, usually twisted, imbricate at base, corona concolorous, flanged, 1.5cm in length and diameter at fringed margin. Anthers and style included in corona, mid spring. Wet meadows and woodlands in south and central Wales; similar plants are found on upper mountain slopes south of Montes de Toledo, central Spain.
