Botanical Description

Leaves two to four per bulb, 20cm long by 10mm broad, glaucous, erect, striate on outer surface. Stem compressed, striate, 24cm (occasionally much longer to 1.75m). Pedicel 5cm long. Flowers one to three, ascending, 5cm in diameter, tube more green than yellow, 1.5cm long, tepals medium yellow, deflexed, concave, rarely twisted, just imbricate at base, corona concolorous yellow, nearly cylindrical but expanded a little at margin, obscurely lobed, 2.2cm high by 1,5cm in diameter at margin. Style and anthers included in corona, mid spring. Wet loam, often stony, in the Sierra de Cazorla and adjacent ranges, Spain.
