Botanical Description

Leaves usually two per bulb, to 20cm long by 2mm wide, dark green, channelled below, round above, finely striate, erect to spreading or prostrate. Stem round, finely striate, 9-14cm tall. Pedicel 15mm long. Flowers one to three, ascending, medium yellow, to 1.6cm in diameter, tube usually straight, rarely slightly curved 1.5cm long, tepals reflexed, just imbricate at base, corona cup-shaped, faintly lobed but entire, very slightly darker than tepals, 3-5mm high by 7mm in diameter, spring. Southern and southeastern Spain among limestone rocks. Also southern Portugal, where the leaves tend to be longer and narrower.
