Botanical Description

Leaves usually two per bulb, to 33cm or more long by 3mm wide, channelled below, round above, dark green, finely striate, erect or decumbent to spreading. Stem round, to 17cm tall. Pedicels to 4cm long. Tube often curved but sometimes straight, 20mm. Flowers one to five, horizontal to ascending, rich medium yellow to 2.8cm diameter, tube curved or straight, to 2cm long, corona cup-shaped, crenate, 6mm high by 8mm in diameter. Anthers three in tube, three in corona overtopping style, spring. Upper to lower Tagus Valley, Spain and Portugal in stony alkaline soil or new silt.
