Botanical Description

forming rounded, slightly downy cushions 2.5-6cm high and 6cm or so wide, the woody stems covered in old dry basal sheaths. Leaves 5-10 by 2-6mm overall, divided into three linear-lanceolate segments 1.5-4mm long furrowed and mucronate, with short petioles broadening abruptly at the base to an elliptical membranous stem-sheath covered in woolly indumentum. Male flowers ten to twenty and the females three to six per umbel, both on slender peduncles 5-20mm long. Flowers yellow, 2-3mm across, late spring to autumn. Fruits somewhat ellipsoidal, two-winged, 6-7 by 4-6mm. Argentina, Chubut and Santa Cruz provinces in exposed Patagonian steppe at 60-300m.
