the leaves broadly cordate-ovate to shortly kidney-shaped, more or less obscurely lobed and crenate to serrate, 2-6cm wide. Racemes usually leafless, 15-30cm tall. Flowers greenish-yellow, the petals divided into five to eleven filiform lobes, early to mid or late summer. California to Alaska and the Rocky Mountains at lowland to alpine levels in moist woods and bogs.
