Botanical Description

ex Link. Height 30-60cm. Leaves lanceolate to ovate, bluish-green, up to 15cm long. Stems leafy with loose clusters of nodding deep blue flowers, 2-2.5cm long, the lobes shorter than the tube, only spreading slightly. Eastern U.S.A., from New York State to Kansas and Alabama, in moist woods. A tall plant which is easily grown in light shade but dies down very quickly after flowering so that its position should be marked carefully.
