Botanical Description

Enargea marginata). Stems woody, creeping and rooting, in the wild also chmbing up tree trunks to 3m or so, but much less in cultivation. Leaves 6-22mm long, elliptic-oblong to lanceolate, pale green, somewhat glossy above. Flowers scented, about 2cm in diameter, usually solitary from leaf axils, summer. Berries 7-10mm in diameter, dark purple. Probably rather large for the alpine house, but not easy to grow well outside. Southern Chile and Argentina and the Falkland Islands, in forests, wet grassland and scrub, and moist rock crevices.
