Botanical Description

Loosely tufted, usually but not invariably, having some long stolons 30-60cm tall. Leaves arching, up to 5mm wide, flat. Flowers in a loose, arching, panicle-like cluster, white, summer. France, Spain, Italy and Slovenija, in woodland and scrub mainly in the mountains. L. lactea is similar but has slightly revolute leaves and transparent-white flowers. (Spain and Portugal, Azores). Both species are too large for all except the largest rock garden but have an airy grace.
