Densely rounded cushion-forming to 12cm or more in diameter. Leaves up to 8mm long, numerous and closely overlapping (more so than in other cushion species), rigid, with blunt tips. Cymes few-flowered, congested, overtopping the leaves at maturity. Flowers congested, 2.5mm long, the tepals brown with a white membranous margin, ageing darker, spring to summer. New Zealand, South Island, known only from the Old Man Range at 1500-1800m.
